Tilda Swinton Wins Oscar Award for Actress in a Supporting Role at 80th Academy Awards

Tilda Swinton captured her first Oscar Award on Sunday evening as she was presented with the statue for Actress in a Supporting Role for the film “Michael Clayton”


 


In the film Swinton plays the role of a calculated corporate attorney who represents a disreputable company involved in a multimillion dollar lawsuit.


 


This was Swinton’s first Academy Award nomination.


 


Joining Tilda Swinton in the list of nominees for Actress in a Supporting Role were Cate Blanchett, “I’m Not There”; Ruby Dee, “American Gangster”; Saoirse Ronan, “Atonement”; and Amy Ryan, “Gone Baby Gone.”
