Parma's Pounding of Northern Philippines Persists

AccuWeather.com reports Parma has already dealt northern Philippines a harsh blow amidst devastating high winds and flooding rain since a late-week landfall upon northeastern Luzon Island, and the pounding is set to persist through at least midweek. Owing to the weakening of steering winds in the area, Parma will be allowed to drift erratically as the storm's inundating rain keeps pelting northern Luzon.
As of Monday, rainfall dished out by the former typhoon has topped 30 inches in some areas such as Laoag City in northwestern Luzon. More than 2 feet of rain has swamped nearby Vigan. Depending upon how this tropical storm tracks during the next few days, additional rainfall could easily reach 1 to 3 feet in the areas already hit hardest by flooding rain, namely northwestern Luzon.
It is possible that the strong tropical storm will regain typhoon status. If so, damaging winds could strike northern Luzon and the smaller nearby islands.
