An upcoming July auction for one of the Snowy Mountains’ best located ski in ski out properties will provide good guidance for the ongoing strength of Thredbo’s finest properties. The auction is set down at a special time of 6pm on Saturday 7th July after the conclusion of the Northern Zone Interschools Skiing races that day.
With a recent pick up in interest in top level properties in Thredbo the vendor, who was the first purchaser off the plan in 1999, decided that it was time to sell the apartment in the first auction ever run for a ski front home in Thredbo Village. Ski In Ski Out Apartment 6 is one of the finest locations in the up-market Crackenback sub-division, and part of the only 5-star Vogue rated resort in the Snowy Mountains. This highly desirable, almost uniquely located, property should draw close interest from potential buyers at a time when prices remain well below their peak levels, but are now beginning to show emerging signs of resurgence. The entire local mountain community will also be watching closely to see if the Thredbo property market can sustain this recent resurgence. The auction campaign is being coordinated by Forbes Stynes Real Estate in conjunction with Mountain High Real Estate.
Forbes Stynes director Steve Forbes said the prime location plus the relative rarity of this apartment would offer an unprecedented opportunity to compete for a prime property in the town as the market headed into the winter season. “Previously, we would offer such a wonderful property via private treaty to our database of prospective purchasers, but due to the recent pick up at the top end of the Thredbo market, the vendor has opted for an auction to drive interest to his property”, Forbes said. Mountain High’s director Gregg Quinn noted, “The bottom line is that there are very few true ski in ski out properties in Thredbo, and this is one of the best”.
“There are a considerable number of potential Thredbo buyers just waiting to pounce on such a uniquely located property, and at a time when prices are off historical highs. Whilst there have been some sales at relative bargain prices in recent months for not so well located Thredbo properties, an opportunity to secure a prime Ski In Ski Out apartment like this almost never comes up” Forbes said. “We look forward to driving this sale to a suitable outcome for all parties. The main thing is that we have a vendor serious about achieving a sale on the day,” Mr Forbes said.
