A young Cleveland mother and her baby daughter were found dead Sunday just hours after being abducted. Ohio authorities say it appears 19-year-old Latasha Jackson and her 1-year-old daughter Chaniya were shot to death by Jackson’s estranged boyfriend, Thomas Lorde. Lorde was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Jackson was walking on East 72nd Avenue with Chaniya and 14-year-old brother Saturday afternoon when Lorde held them at gunpoint. Lorde, 25, forced Jackson’s brother to leave the area. The teen, who police have not identified, called police from his home and an Amber Alert was issued.
Police say the bodies of Jackson, her daughter, and Lorde were found early Sunday morning "in a closed garage of an unoccupied structure in the 7000 block of Union Avenue.”
Authorities described Lorde as a “violent sexual predator” who was wanted in New York on outstanding felony warrants.
